Design & Build

With its sleek, black design and sturdy construction, the SureColor SC-P600 is as stylish as a desktop printer can be. With a weight of 15 kilograms, its size is enough to position on a desk easily and easy to transport. There is an area at the top that allows temporary storage for papers.

You can swivel out its LCD touch screen to 45 degrees. On the top left are blank buttons, and the three other buttons are for turning the device on/off, returning to the previous menu, and going home. LCD menu lets you select media, print CD/DVD labels, choose black ink and see when it’s low on ink. ‘Administration’ and ‘Print Status Sheet’ also provide a usage history, including when the first print was made, the number of copies printed, and the sizes of the copies.

Sleep mode has a default duration of three minutes. While that period is unoccupied, the printer will go to sleep but awakens as soon as a new instruction is received. Via the LCD menu, you can change the duration between one and 240 seconds. When the power supply is set to ‘Off’, the printer is left on continuously or for a specified amount of time.

A CD/DVD tray and three paper feed systems are also available. With its auto sheet feeder, the auto sheet feeder can cater to most printing operations. Its front loader can handle fine-art and heavyweight media up to 1.3 mm in thickness. Its roll feeder can accommodate rolls up to 120 inches in length.

The printer generally operates relatively quietly aside from an occasional whir when it resolves its routines. Sometimes the printer will stop for a moment or two to think, to make sure everything is in order, and then it will continue.

Speed

The print speed is pretty good if you compare it to other photo printers. On the other hand, a photo printer costs much less and prints both monochrome and color at a higher PPM—introducing the Epson WorkForce WF-7210 Wireless printer.

For 4 x 6 and 8 x 10 photos, its default Speed setting averaged 1 minute and 1 second. A 4 by 6 photo taken with the Maximum Quality setting took about 2:05 to produce, and a 10 by 12 photo took as much as 4:10. A 13-by-19-inch photo was taken in four minutes flat using the Speed setting. You can find all of the printer’s speed information in these numbers. For the P600, the actual speed depends on several factors.

Performance

We used Epson’s own traditional photo paper, Epson’s own high-end satin, and we selected Printer Managed Colors for color handling. You can also use custom profiles for your prints if you wish to utilize third-party media within Photoshop if you wish to use these kinds of materials.

We were extremely pleased with the results, with color prints displaying vibrant colors, exquisite detail, and subtle color transitions rendered smoothly without any visible banding. In addition to the accurate Epson profiles with the paper that we used, we also did not have to intervene manually to adjust the image before printing because the profiles worked with the paper flawlessly.

The four black inks of the SC-P600 will save you a lot of money if you plan to print many black and white documents. Our tests proved that the results from the printer were beautifully neutral, and the shadows and highlights were evenly distributed across the image irrespective of whether we were using gloss or matte media.

Print Quality

It is generally true that the print quality of inkjet printers is pretty good. With a resolution of up to 5760 x 1440 DPI, the Epson SureColor P600 Wide Format Inkjet Printer is no exception. It is advertised that this inkjet photo printer uses Epson’s “UltraChrome HD Ink.”. In other words, it has 8 colors of ink (cyan, photo black, vivid magenta, light cyan, yellow, vivid light magenta, matte black, light black, and very light black).

Fine-art Printing

Fine-art printing is one of the main requirements of artists and photographers who use the SC-P600. In addition to thick cards, the printer can handle several media types. The front LCD panel displays fully illustrated instructions on how to load fine-art media, but loading fine-art media is not very intuitive.

Black and White Prints

The color cast that many printers introduce when printing black & white images are especially noticeable in mid-grey tones. Epson uses three different types of black ink: photo blacks and matte blacks, light blacks, and light blacks to produce grey tones, which are colorless. We tested a black and white photograph printed on the test paper that exhibits good shadow and highlight detail and resembles a darkroom print.

Installation & Operation

Despite the overwhelming prospect, we didn’t have any trouble setting up the SureColor SC-P600. It’s possible to use the SC-P600 without a PC, but we installed the drivers and software to print images through Photoshop. We chose to connect wirelessly to the printer, which was also super easy thanks to the on-screen instructions.

Installing the nine ink cartridges is also easy since each cartridge snaps into place with a gentle push. Because each color has its own molding, there’s no way to fit cartridges incorrectly. With a capacity of just under 26ml per cartridge, it’s a decent amount of ink, and the smallest droplet size is just 2pl, so gradients should be smooth. A factor you should definitely take into consideration is the cost of replacement inks – including nine Epson cartridges in the set.

What We Like

  • Exceptionally high-quality output
  • It is possible to print on fine art paper
  • Images in black and white with a neutral tone
  • Wireless connectivity
  • Simple to install and configure
  • An extremely useful touchscreen
  • It is possible to print a maximum of 13 x 19 inches

What We Don’t Like

  • Having a large size
  • It’s a bit expensive to print

Note: Overall, the Epson SureColor P600 is a well-rounded printer that has a lot to offer. The ability to print photos, fine art, the option to print on a wide range of media, and the high resolution and consistency of its prints are all attributes of this printer that are worth mentioning.

Final Words

So, how does it look? It has a maximum print size of 12″ x 19″, which is just about standard for an inkjet printer. Epson has ensured that the color gamut and image quality are superior to the competition. The colors are rich and accurate, without much in the way of oversaturation or going over saturation. In fact, this is one area where we think that Epson has excelled.

The Epson SureColor P600 printer is a great choice if you need a dedicated print professional inkjet printer. This printer is loaded with professional features and offers quality results on a variety of different media types and sizes. If you’re looking into getting a large format printer but aren’t sure what it’s used for or which to get, the Epson SureColor P600 is one that you should consider. Also, the P600 is exactly what you are looking for when it comes to paper handling and print quality.
